چکیده
NREL's thermochemical biomass conversion research is focused on ex-situ upgrading of fast-pyrolysis (FP) vapors as an efficient route to completely biogenic pyrolysis-based fuel precursors, fuels, and value-added chemicals depending catalyst process conditions. A near term pathway being developed uses these liquids for co-processing with petroleum feedstocks assess carbon incorporation in hydrocarbon potential refinery use. In this work, the impact feedstock catalytic fast pyrolysis oil (CFPO) composition was determined oils then assessed production via FCC (fluidized cracking) co-processing. Biomass were generated destabilizing vapor components (char, inorganics, tar aerosols) removed by hot gas filtration produce clean more responsive upgrading. Davison Circulating Riser (DCR), a industry standard fluidized cracking (FCC) evaluation, coupled custom pyrolyzer system designed consistent-composition feed DCR. Pyrolysis vapors, derived from pure hardwood softwood, upgraded using commercially available modified zeolite-based catalysts CFPOs. These analyzed 31P 13C NMR spectroscopy, GCxGC-TOF/MS, carbonyl ultimate analysis (CHNO), simulated distillation (SIMDIS) both chemistry behavior they relate type producing fungible product liquids. exploratory vapor-phase-upgrading results demonstrated feasibility refinery-compatible intermediates entirely biomass-derived industry-accepted DCR The CFPOs VGO feeds operations containing fuels.

Production of Bio-Derived Fuels and Chemicals
The great demand for, and impending depletion of petroleum reserves, the associated impact of fossil fuel consumption on the environment, and volatility in the energy market have elicited extensive research on alternative sources of traditional petroleum-derived products such as biofuels and bio-chemicals. Fossil oil is largely associated with gasoline, however, approximately 6000 petroleum-der...

As petroleum prices continue to increase, it is likely that biofuels will play an ever-increasing role in our energy future. The processing of biomass-derived feedstocks (including cellulosic, starch- and sugar-derived biomass, and vegetable fats) by catalytic cracking and hydrotreating is a promising alternative for the future to produce biofuels, and the existing infrastructure of petroleum r...
